Harvard Athletics set a goal of covering more of the University’s sports–football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, fencing, track, swimming, etc.–even when different competitions are taking place simultaneously. Rather than moving multiple large-scale video production suites from venue to venue, they created a high-powered production control room that takes camera feeds from multiple venues to produce and broadcast or stream multiple events. Imry Halevi, Director of Multimedia and Production, oversaw the upgrades during the summer, and put the new control room into action as the school’s fall session launched.
Central to providing the multi-camera production, live-streaming and network-quality instant replay/slow motion are a TriCaster 8000, TriCaster 460, and two 3Play 4800s.
Included in the upgrades: TriCaster Advanced Edition, with major new additions in automation, which Halevi immediately put to work, as documented on his Twitter feed:
The additions continued into the school year and went beyond the control room, with a TriCaster Mini HD-4sdi that helped extend video coverage to more sports:
So, how are the changes working out?
